Artist Statement:
After participating in the Berlin Art Exchange Tour last summer, I was inspired by a work of installation and thus planned to enhance audiences’ viewing experience by transforming my previous painting entry into a light sculpture.
I intend to reveal the poor living environment that the trees are confined in and at the same time draw the public's attention to this problem. The colourful objects are representing different kinds of wastes that I actually saw being trapped within the roots. Audiences have to bend down a little to explore the living environment of the tree which is rather chaotic so as to create an illusion of entrapment in a confined and hostile environment. Audiences are invited to comprehend the tree's innermost sensation and thoughts through a playful and artful approach, as if they were among the tree roots under the ground.
